Unreal Tournament 2004 / UDK


Portswap or some such problem

I've suddenly been getting a series of messages when trying to launch a server. The server launch aborts. Several issues are mentioned, including a PORTSWAP, something about objects in memory and purging objects, and a problem with gamespy queries.

I am not aware of any changes that I made to any important system properties. UCC simply went from working to not working. I'm thinking the problem might be in my INI file, since I suspect that under certain circumstances running the UT2004 executable might change the INI file (but maybe I'm imagining this).

In any case, I can't launch a server with UCC any more, which is very annoying. I would appreciate any help. The full text of the error message is below:

Never mind. The problem was in the INI file. I disabled all connections to Gamespy, and also disabled resetting on portswaps.
Yeah, that was one of the solutions I had in mind, when reading first post (I've missed you've already found the solution :-) ). Anyway stat sending and connecting to gamespy may sometimes cause problems, I usually edit appropriate sections of ini file (UT2004.ini) like this:

[IpDrv.MasterServerUplink]
DoUplink=False
UplinkToGamespy=False
SendStats=False
ServerBehindNAT=False
DoLANBroadcast=False
bIgnoreUTANBans=False


and it usually helps. Moreover I have a small trick, after Unreal installation I backup unreal /System/ folder. Then when something gets wrong first I try to overwrite System folder with my backup - usually it solves the issue. If not I reinstall whole Unreal.
