Name: Quadrotor-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Q-UAV) Control
You will learn: Q-UAV control mechanisms, using 3D controllers (joysticks, 3D mouse, 3D pen etc)
Difficulty: moderate-heavy
Excitement: Quadrotor Unamnned Aerial Vehicles (Q-UAV), also know as Quadrocopters, are presently very popular. They are utilized as toys for the general public, a research platform for 3D navigation, for inspecting power lines or for military reconnaissance missions. Currently the control mechanism of a Q-UAV are very limited, capitalizing on known game controllers (gamepad, joystick etc.) or touch interfaces. These interfaces can be unnatural to use in respect to 3D navigation and feedback to the user. To provide even deeper immersion into the QAV control use of more responsive tools is required.
Description: The thesis focuses on utilizing the known platform of AR Drone to explore various available control mechanism over the by the manufacturer provided SDK. These control mechanisms range from the standard touch based application, game controllers (e.g. gamepad, joystick etc.), 3D mouse, and 3D navigation tools providing various degrees of freedom (i.e. 3 and 6) and 3 degrees of force feedback. As a result of the thesis, the student has to create a middleware or library to provide an interface between the control mechanism and the Q-UAV. As a part of the thesis, the student has to create a set of simple navigation scenarios, to be able to compare the capabilities of the Q-UAV controls for the newly used controllers and the already available.

Perfect for anybody who wants to enter the world of robots and drones!
