GameBots

Introduction

GameBots 2004 (GB or GameBots) are a modification (mod) for the game Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT04). GameBots are written in UnrealScript (UT04 scripting language). GB provide network text protocol for connecting to UT04 and controlling in-game avatars (bots). With GB user can control bots with text commands and at the same time, he receives information about the game environment in the text format.

GB main purpose is to make available rich environment of UT04 for virtual agent development by allowing easy connection to UT04 through its text protocol. For more information about GB implementation see Documentation.

GameBots history:

GameBots are a project started at the University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute by Andrew N. Marshal and Gal Kaminka. The goal was to turn the game Unreal Tournament 2000 into a domain for research in artificial intelligence.

Pogamut2 GameBots are a direct derivation of Marshal and Kaminka UT2000 version. Porting of the version to UT2004 was inspired by another GameBots branch created by Joe Manojlovich, Tim Garwood and Jessica Bayliss from RIT university. Pogamut2 GameBots went through major debugging and code refactorization. New messages and commands were added also with several debugging tools.

Pogamut3 GameBots (package name GameBots2004) are a new version created especially for Pogamut 3. These GameBots are still developed.
